Bangkok Bank realizes that the trust of our customers is our most valuable asset. We recognize that customers expect a high level of privacy and security for their personal and financial affairs. We maintain rigorous standards and procedures in order to safeguard sensitive information entrusted to us and prevent misuse of this information.

 

2.    Information that is Collected and Retained

 

The information that we will collect about you will depend on how you use the facilities offered by the Bangkok Bank websites.

 

We collect, retain, and use information about you only where we believe that it will help better run our business or provide products, services, and other opportunities to you.


We use such information to protect and administer your records and account; to comply with certain laws and regulations; to help us design or improve our products and services; and to help us to understand your financial needs so that we can provide you with superior service.


We collect and retain information about you only for specific business purposes – and we will provide full disclosure to tell you why we are collecting and retaining it upon your request.

3.    Security and Privacy of Information

 

We employ world class security standards, technologies and procedures to help prevent unauthorized access to confidential information. We have made a significant investment in time, money and people to ensure our website meets the highest standards, including Firewalls, Hardware Key Management, Intrusion Detection and Assessment technologies. For Internet Banking, we utilize 128-Bit "strong encryption" for all access to our transactional services on the Internet, and require customers to register prior to using the service.

 

For services other than Internet Banking we may use other key-lengths for encryption.

 

We constantly update and test our technology to improve the protection of our information about you and to assure the reliability of our information.

 

4.    Ensuring Accuracy of Information

 

The Bank strives to ensure your account information is accurate and up to date.  If you find that your account information is incomplete, inaccurate or not current, please contact us via our Bualuang Phone service, Card Member Service Section or at one of our branches.  We will investigate and respond in a timely manner.

 

5.    Limiting Access to Information within the Bank and Group of Companies

 

Bangkok Bank is made up of a number of companies, such as our Bank, the Bualuang Asset Management Co.  All of these companies work together to provide the accounts and services you want.


With your consent, we may also share information from your applications and external sources, such as credit reports, among the Bangkok Bank family of companies in an effort to serve you.

 

By sharing information about your accounts and relationship between our family of companies, we can serve you more efficiently and make it easier for you to do business with us.  For example, if you have business relationship with one of our companies and want to establish a new relationship with another of our companies, we may share information you have provided to us.  This could save you time in contacting us since you may not need to furnish the same information twice.

We share information for mailing labels to be used in marketing campaigns among the Bangkok Bank family of companies.

 

6.     Disclosure of Information to External Parties  

We do not reveal specific information about your accounts or other personally identifiable data to external parties outside the Bangkok Bank group, unless:

A. Your consent has been obtained
B. The information is provided to help complete a transaction initiated by you
C. The information is provided to a reputable credit bureau or similar authorized information reporting agency
D. The disclosure otherwise is lawfully permitted or required by any relevant authority.

We do not provide account or personal information to external parties outside the Bangkok Bank group for the purpose of independent telemarketing or direct mail marketing of any non-financial products or services of those companies although companies within the Bangkok Bank group may contact third parties to provide those services on their behalf. 

 

7.    Acceptance and Changes to our Privacy and Security Policy

 

This is the current Bangkok Bank Privacy and Security Policy.  It replaces any other Privacy and Security Policy for the Bangkok Bank websites published to date.

Bangkok Bank may at any time vary the Privacy and Security Policy by publishing the varied Privacy and Security Policy on the Bangkok Bank websites.

 

8.     Privacy Guidelines  

The following explains the security technologies we employ and your role, as customers to ensure that your banking information remains secure.

- ID and Password
When you register for our Bualuang iPay service, you will be given a unique identifier and will be required to select a password to use this service. The Bank knows your ID but only you will know your Password, this ensures the password remains a secret to both internal and external parties. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your banking information by not sharing your ID or password with anyone, by changing your password periodically, and by remembering to sign off from the system as soon as you are finished.

- Cookies
To provide better service and a more secure website, we use "cookies" as part of our interaction between your browser and the Bangkok Bank computer systems. A "cookie" is a small text file placed on your hard drive by our web page server. These cookies are encrypted and used to maintain the secure connection between the browser and the server; they do not contain customer specific information, are one-time only and cannot be reused.

Cookies are commonly used on websites and do not harm your computer system. By configuring your preferences or options in your browser, you determine if and how a cookie will be accepted. Your browser must be configured to accept cookies in order to access our transaction websites.

- Privacy of Online Information
Whenever you access or enter personal information on our website, we use 128-Bit Secure Socket Layer (SSL technology) for transferring data. This technology encrypts - or scrambles - information so it is practically impossible for anyone other than Bangkok Bank to read it. Click here for more information.

- E-mail
We preserve the content of all e-mail sent to us by customers, including the e-mail address and a copy of our responses, so that we can efficiently process any subsequent questions you may have. We may occasionally contact you at your e-mail address if we think a particular Bangkok Bank service might apply to your situation.

It is important to note that regular non-encrypted Internet e-mail is not secure. We cannot be sure that you actually sent it, or that the message contents have not been seen by other parties. In the instances where Bangkok Bank Internet e-mail addresses are provided, these should be used for information inquiries of a non-sensitive and non-confidential nature.

- Third Parties and Consolidators
Consolidation sites are Internet websites which offer the ability to collect all of your personal information on one website. For example, you may be encouraged to provide consolidation websites with your personal finance information, such as your Online ID, Access ID, PC Password or Online Password for Internet Banking.

BANGKOK BANK RECOMMENDS THAT CUSTOMERS NEVER PROVIDE THIS INFORMATION TO SUCH SITES. 

 

9.    Details of What, When, and Where Information is Collected

 

Browsing Information

If you visit the Bangkok Bank website to read, browse or download information, our system will record the date and time of your visit to our site, the pages viewed and any information downloaded.

 

On-line Tools and Application Forms  

The Bangkok Bank website currently offers, or will offer, a number of interactive facilities including tools such as a home loan calculator, as well as on-line application forms.

 If you use any of these tools we generally do not capture any personal information that you may enter when using these tools.  An exception is where a tool allows you to suspend entry and retrieve the details at a later time.  In that case, the information is stored on our systems so that you may recover the information when you resume your plan.  Any information stored is not used by us.

 

If you complete an on-line application form, the information that you enter onto the on-line form will only be collected by us if you submit your on-line application.  If at any stage you cancel your application or log out prior to submitting your application, the information you have entered up to that point will be automatically deleted.  If you suspend your application, for example because you wish to complete it at another time, the information that you have entered will be retained in our systems so that you may recover the information when you resume your application.  On-line applications that have been suspended are not processed by us.

 
Links to Third Party Web Sites

The Bangkok Bank website may contain links to websites of third party providers of goods and services.  If you have accessed Third Party websites through the Bangkok Bank website, and if those third parties collect information about you, Bangkok Bank may also collect or have access to that information as part of our arrangements with those third parties.

 

Third Party websites should contain their own privacy policies.  Third parties are responsible for informing you of their own privacy policies.
